Probable Cause Conference Definition
In a felony case, this is the second time a defendant appears at a district court before a district court judge. A probable cause conference (PCC) is set at the time a defendant is arraigned. A defendant is entitled to have a probable cause conference within 14 days after the date of arraignment. The purpose of this proceeding is to discuss a possible plea agreement, discuss bail or bond modifications, discuss material aspects of the case, or discuss any other relevant matters agreed by the parties. The probable cause conference can be “waived” by agreement between the prosecutor and the attorney for the defendant.
