Crime Definition
A crime is conduct, by act or omission, which is punishable under statutory or common law with incarceration, a fine, or both. Federal crimes are prosecuted in United States District Courts. State misdemeanors are filed and prosecuted in Michigan’s district courts, while felonies are handled in county circuit courts.
