Rape Definition
Rape is illegal sexual activity and, in most cases, sexual intercourse carried out against a person’s will or under threat of injury, or with a person who is under a specific age or incapable of legitimate consent due to mental disease, psychological disorder, drunkenness, unconsciousness, or trickery. Illegal sexual contact with a minor is considered statutory rape, regardless of whether there was “consent.” Criminal rape is divided into various degrees of offenses called Criminal Sexual Conduct. The most severe offense, First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, is punishable by life in prison.
