Leaving the Scene of an Accident Definition
Michigan law makes leaving the scene of an accident a crime. A driver involved in an accident must wait for the police to respond and provide the other driver with certain information, such as insurance and identification unless staying at the accident scene would cause greater harm. The offense is more severe if the accident causes an injury or death.
